Our Commitment to Privacy
Expiro is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your personal documents and data should remain yours and yours alone. That's why Expiro processes and stores your documents locally on your device (or, if you turn on the optional iCloud Sync feature, through your own personal iCloud account — see "iCloud Sync" below) and only ever sends anonymous, aggregate usage statistics off-device — see "Analytics" below.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data, and we never collect your document content. Expiro operates entirely on your device without requiring an account, login, or any personal information.
Specifically, we do NOT collect:
- Your name, email, or contact information
- Photos or images of your documents
- Document contents, names, or expiration dates
- Location data
- Device identifiers, or any identifier tied to you personally
We do collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (e.g. "a scan happened") through TelemetryDeck — see "Analytics" below for exactly what that does and doesn't include, and how to turn it off.
Data Storage
All data you enter into Expiro—including document images, names, and expiration dates—is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure data storage frameworks. This data:
- Never leaves your device unless you turn on the optional iCloud Sync feature (see "iCloud Sync" below)
- Is not uploaded to any cloud service we operate
- Is not accessible to us or any third party
- Is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
iCloud Sync (Optional)
Expiro can optionally sync your documents across your own devices using iCloud. This feature is off by default and only turns on if you enable it in the app's Settings screen. When enabled, your documents sync end-to-end through your own personal iCloud account — Apple's infrastructure, not ours — and we never see or have access to that data.
Document Scanning & OCR
When you scan a document, Expiro uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect and extract text, and (optionally) Apple's on-device Intelligence model for AI-assisted extraction. This processing happens entirely on your device—no images or document text are ever sent to external servers, including our analytics provider.
Analytics
Expiro uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymous, aggregate usage statistics — for example, how often scanning is used or which app features are popular. These signals never include your document images, document contents, names, dates, or any other information that could identify you personally, and they are never linked to your Apple ID, email address, or any other personal identifier.
This is on by default, and you can turn it off anytime in the app: Settings → Privacy → "Share Anonymous Analytics".
Notifications
Expiro uses Apple's local notification system to remind you about upcoming expirations. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device and do not involve any external servers.
Third-Party Services
Expiro uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous, privacy-focused usage analytics (see "Analytics" above) and Apple's App Store for processing purchases, governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not integrate with any advertising or tracking services, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone.
In-App Purchases
Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs how your purchase data is handled.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it:
- Delete individual documents anytime within the app
- Delete all app data by uninstalling Expiro
- Your data is automatically removed if you uninstall the app
Children's Privacy
Expiro does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is intended for general audiences who need to track document expirations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Expiro after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
